New equipment supports basic fitness and recovery functions, and now residents know how to use it

BARBARA SHERMAN - Summerfield residents watch professional trainer Connie Bear of Club Sport demonstrate how to use the new equipment Dec. 3.On Dec. 3, an open house at the Summerfield Clubhouse Fitness Center drew a crowd of about 40 people to hear local professional trainer Connie Bear of Club Sport talk about the new equipment and how to use it.

"The Summerfield Clubhouse's new Fitness Center provides an exercise area to support both basic fitness and recovery functions for Summerfield residents who may need access to such equipment," said Linda McCall, who serves on the Clubhouse Committee.

"In spring 2016, the SCA board voted to fund the initial equipment purchase and installation. This is the first part of a three-year plan and is just one in a series of Clubhouse updates. The Clubhouse is Summerfield's 'living room,' and the SCA board recently funded updates to the craft room, lower lounge, multi-purpose room, minor changes to the kitchen and banquet rooms and the outdoor courts along with the addition of a two-story lift. "The demand in Clubhouse usage has increased dramatically in the past two years. It is where Summerfield residents meet to play, socialize, learn and organize for the entire community."
