Crime doesn't pay - or, Don't mess with Betty Boop

Beez Holgate Station, which is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week, is noted for its décor highlighting Betty Boop in all her guises.

It is not clear whether this particular burglar was drawn to the café by the presence of Ms. Boop, but Central Precinct Officers were certainly drawn there by HIS presence.

Early Thursday morning, September 19, at 1:28 am, police responded to an alarm at Beez Holgate Station, at 4705 S.E. 27th Avenue. When officers arrived, they located a subject hiding inside the establishment.

A K-9 officer also arrived, and as the dog began barking, the subject immediately ran out the back door. The officers were waiting, and arrested 51-year-old William James O'Donnell.

O'Donnell was booked into MCDC and charged with Burglary 2, Criminal Mischief 1, and Theft 3.
