ASHTON - Woodstock Farmers Market volunteers Sandra Shaw, Amanda Owings, and Cicely Waters, take a break for a moment with Market Manager Emily Murnen - who is holding Owen. The opening day crowd at the Woodstock Farmers Market on June 2 made it hard to believe this Sunday outdoor bazaar was but a dream as recently as 2010.

“We’re really excited, as we go into our third season,” Market Manager Emily Murnen told THE BEE.

“We’re starting off with 36 vendors today – pretty much our maximum number each week,” Murnen said. “As in our previous seasons, we’ll continue to have kids’ activities, live music – and cooking demos – a couple of times a month.”

Categories and vendors include a little bit of everything, she observed – including fresh seasonal produce, veggies, fruits, meats, and fish. “We also have baked goods, as well as hot food – so people can stay for lunch, or take it home with them to enjoy.”

The location contributes to the community-oriented feeling folks have about this market, Murnen remarked. “This is a great location, right in the heart of Woodstock. KeyBank continues to be very generous – allowing us to use their parking lot for the market. And, they are a presenting sponsor with us, too – which is important, because this is a nonprofit market.”

The market keeps its website up-to-date, so shoppers can log-in to see what’s in season, and which vendors are expected to participate each week.

“If you haven’t been by lately,” Murnen said, “come on out any Sunday, and you’ll see why so many people come back, week after week.”
