by: DAVID F. ASHTON - Woodstock Farmers Market Manager Emily Murnen spends a moment with Aimee Devereaux of East Side Farm - which is located at S.E. 128th and Powell Boulevard. Listen to folks who regularly visit the Woodstock Farmers Market, and you’ll learn that the good selection of produce, meats, and prepared items, is what keeps them coming back week after week.

“We’ve also heard our shoppers also like having a consistency of vendors,” said Market Manager Emily Murnen. “They’ve gotten to know and trust our vendors, who take time to talk with shoppers.”

With weekly food demonstrations, a kids booth, and live music, Murnen summed up, “This market continues to be a wonderful community place in our neighborhood each week.”

During THE BEE’s mid-season visit on August 18, the market was holding its annual Kids Day. “We closed off S.E. 47th Street and put a dozen activities there. It gets a little bigger each year.”

All this activity, plus the vendors and selection, keeps about 2,000 adult visitors coming through the market every week. “With an average of about 500 customers per hour circulating, it keeps vendors happy; they continue to be very positive about our market.”
