Howl-O-Ween 5K offers dog-friendly race with prizes
Bring the family and the four-legged pets out to McCuddy's Landing this Sunday, Oct. 1, for the second annual Howl-O-Ween 5K, hosted by the Scappoose Dog Owners Group.
Run or walk along the Multnomah Channel dike during the dog-friendly event, which raises money for improvements to the Scappoose off-leash dog park.
"Projects that were supported by last year's event include the new sprinkler system and water for the small enclosure, along with on-going maintenance like over-seeding and fertilizing to help control winter mud," a news release from Scappoose D.O.G. states.
Entry fees are $30 for each participant 17 and older, or $20 for teens age 13-16. Kids 12 and under get in free. Registration is available onsite, or register online
Onsite registration starts at 9 a.m., with runners beginning at 10 a.m. and walkers at 10:15 a.m.
Costumes are encouraged and prizes will be offered for best costume, as well as best dog/human pair. Prizes will also be offered in each age category. Dog waste bags will be available onsite.
Participants will leave from Mark's on the Channel, walking or running two and a half kilometers (roughly one and a half miles) then heading back for the full 5K distance.
