Children and their families patiently awaited the arrival of Santa Claus in a fire truck Monday evening, Nov. 27, as holiday lights surrounding the Watts House Pioneer Museum in Scappoose lit up for the first time this year.

Each year, the Watts House hosts a Christmas lighting ceremony, turning on lights strung up around the Victorian home and its walkway, while cookies and hot chocolate are served nearby.

This year was no different.

Visitors lined the walkway entrance to the Watts House, as Bart Hafeman and Clark Bondy of Hit Machine delivered live renditions of holiday classics under the gazebo in Heritage Park.

Kids spoke in quiet voices and whispers as they shared their Christmas wishlists with Santa, leaving with candy canes.
