Columbia County Sheriff's Office deputies arrest Erick Wenceslao Itza Briceno after joint investigation with Scappoose Police Department

Itza BricenoUPDATED: A 35-year old Washington man was arrested on multiple counts of sexual abuse-related charges after a joint investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and the Scappoose Police Department.

Erick Wenceslao Itza Briceno, 35, of Kelso was booked into the Columbia County Jail on Thursday, Jan. 18, on eight counts of first-degree rape and two counts of sexual abuse.

CCSO was alerted to the case through a Department of Human Services-issued child abuse report.

Over the course of the investigation, three victims, ages 23, 14 and 12, disclosed information to law enforcement stating that Itza Briceno had groomed and sexually abused them when they were between the ages of 9 and 14 years old.

The oldest victim said she was abused three times a month between the ages of 11 and 14 when she lived in Scappoose, a press release from CCSO states. The two younger victims alleged abuse occurred in the St. Helens area two-and-a-half years ago, it adds.

"Child sex abuse is so destructive to families," CCSO Sheriff Jeff Dickerson stated in the release. "Our investigators have to sort through a lot of sordid details to get to the facts in these cases. I'm so grateful for the dedication of our investigation team, which was able to work with the Amani Center and the Scappoose Police Department in developing this investigation and to bring charges in this case."

Court records indicate Itza Briceno lived in St. Helens as early as 2013.

Itza Briceno was being held on $76,000 bail as of Friday morning, Jan. 19. As of 9:30 a.m. Friday, jail records showed the man had not yet been arraigned.
