Donna Jean Gedlich

March 24, 1945-May 21, 2014


GedlichDonna Jean (Manfred) Gedlich, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend went to be with our Lord on May 21, 2014, in Portland, Oregon.

She was born March 24, 1945, in Spokane, Washington, to Alphonso and Lucille Manfred with her twin brother, Donald Gene Manfred.

She graduated from high school in Moscow, Idaho, in 1963, and moved to Portland, Oregon, in 1966.

Donna met her husband, John R. Gedlich in January 1967 and they married on June 28, 1969.

They moved to Scappoose, Oregon, in 1971, where she became actively involved in clubs such as the Historical Society, Community Club, St. Wenceslaus food bank and was a board member of the Women’s Resource Center.

In 1984, she was hired by the City of Scappoose where she became city recorder. Donna retired from the city in November of 1999.

In 2000, she ran and was elected to serve on the City Council. She was re-elected four times and was in her 14th year when she was forced to retire due to illness.

Donna is survived by her husband of 45 years, John Sr.; her son, John Jr., of Vancouver, Washington, daughter-in-law, Tracey, and their sons, Jackson and Jakob Gedlich; and her twin brother, Don.

Services will be held on Saturday June 14, 2014, at 11 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Scappoose, Oregon. A reception will follow.
