'The Oregon problem is simple: too many low-information voters who believe everything they see and hear on the shiny TV screen'

FILE PHOTO - Brumbles: We are now looking at a bicycle tax, higher gas taxes, higher registration fees, and with the passage of Measure 101, a new tax on our health care, just to name a few John Locke believed only property owners should be allowed to vote. He said that if everyone voted, the majority would "legislate a leveling of property," or, as we call it today, wealth redistribution. I think he was prescient in his observation.

When Measure 97 was on the ballot, the people came out and voted it down in spades because they knew it would affect them personally. The legislature went to work to steal more money to pad their cronies' pockets, fund more government, and bribe their voting base, because they will never have enough money or power. We are now looking at a bicycle tax, higher gas taxes, higher registration fees, and with the passage of Measure 101, a new tax on our health care, just to name a few. They are already looking at cap-and-trade and other job-killing taxes that will drive away industry and be passed on to the consumer, all at a time when the state has record-setting revenues.

The Oregon problem is simple: too many low-information voters who believe everything they see and hear on the shiny TV screen, and too much of the "let George vote" attitude. Do you really think the unions that benefit from these taxes will tell you the truth? What if I told you that unions, insurance companies and large corporations had made a deal with the legislature, that they are all exempt from these new taxes?

What if I said that no one would have lost their health care without this tax? Opposite of what you have heard, isn't it? So guess who will pay for this tax, which is actually going into the general fund? School budgets will be stripped of $25 million, nearly 12,000 college students, 217,000 Individuals, 15,500 small businesses and non-profit owners ... in other words, most likely, you.

Enough theft. Turn off the TV and do some actual research. For the people who are too lazy to vote, lick a stamp and deposit your ballot in the mail, turn off The People's Court, get off the couch and get involved. It is in your best interest and is your duty.

Conservatives and freedom-loving people, if you don't get more proactive and vote, we will end up with another term with this neo-Marxist post-modern communist governor that we have, and I can promise you ain't seen nothing yet. She will try to steal our paychecks and our rights. Gov. Kate Brown is committed to the Public Employees Union, her other cronies, Agenda 21 and 30, and staying in power. You are just a useless eater to her.

No more theft of our money or our rights.
