Charlie Davidson participates in top division

The Scappoose cross country team participated in one of the largest high school meets on the west coast this week, running the Nike Pre-Nationals at Portland Meadows on Sept. 28.

Senior Charlie Davidson placed 37th overall in the 5K Jim Danner Championship with a time of 20:29.69 – more than 24 seconds faster than her time at the event last fall. The rest of the varsity squad, led by Rachel Bode, participated in the women's 5k division three. The Indians placed 15th with 388 points and second out of the participating Cowapa League schools, leading Banks at 433 and trailing Seaside at 270.

On the men's side, Dan Carrier led the team to a fourth place finish in Division three with a time of 17:37.82. Carrier finished third in the race, which saw the Tribe's 158 points beat out Seaside (170), Astoria (242) and Banks (542).

Scappoose will next hit the racecourse on Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Trojan Relays at Trojan Park.
