Sherwood was recently named as a top 'serene' city by the website Last summer, Sherwood was ranked as the fifth best city to live in by CNN Money magazine for a city with a population between 10,000 and 50,000 residents. Looks like Sherwood is on another list of favorite cities, this time on the travel site, as part of “6 Serene U.S. Towns that Won’t Be Secret for Long.”, a website that “brings you travel and vacation ideas, insights and inspiration,” announced Sherwood’s selection last week.

“Many travelers venture beyond Portland for Oregon’s famed state parks, but seldom do visitors stop to explore Sherwood,” the site, which includes a scenic shot of a vineyard, reads. “The loss is theirs. Here you will find fantastic vineyards (Willamette Valley is a stone throw’s away), a historic downtown and excellent antique shops.”

Other towns selected included Montpelier, Vermont; Bozeman, Montana; Camden, Maine; Holland, Michigan; and Athens, Georgia.

According to Amanda Berglove, a marketing specialist with, the selection was based on exposure the named cities had involving the U.S. travel industry as well as how unique each town was it terms of “attractions, natural beauty and culture.”

On Aug. 12, CNN Money magazine named CNN Money magazine named Sherwood No. 5 of the best places to live in America today No. 5 of the best places to live in the U.S. A credit card and personal finance comparison website later ranked Sherwood high on its lists of desireable Oregon cities.That ranking was based on a combination of economic strength, job growth, affordability, good schools, diversity, health care, a strong sense of community and other factors.
