Amazing Kids inspire community and local businesses
Justyn Price, Sherwood's Amazing Kid, and 28 other honorees will be recognized for the contributions they make to their communities and the inspiration they provide for young and old alike.
In choosing each Amazing Kid honoree, the Pamplin Media Group's selection committee placed a heavy emphasis on volunteerism and the young people's efforts to make a difference in the lives of others.
All 29 honorees will also be featured in a 72-page Amazing Kids special section, which will publish next week in all Pamplin Media Group newspapers.
"We're committed to showing our readers why we feel positive about the future of the communities we serve and the state of Oregon in general," said Pamplin Media Group President and Publisher Mark Garber. "These young people give us all a reason to be proud."
Months of work have gone in to selecting the Amazing Kid honorees and telling their stories. But none of this would be possible without the support of numerous community-minded businesses and organizations who understand how important it is to recognize young people for their contributions.
"It's a great way to acknowledge all of the kids who are doing good things. There are a lot of kids out there doing really cool community-service projects, and they deserve to be recognized," said Stan Robinson, owner, Pacific West Roofing, and presenting sponsor of the 2017 Amazing Kids. "Pacific West Roofing takes great pride in recognizing all kids who do what they can to support their schools, communities, friends and families."
"We love the fact that Pamplin Media Group has facilitated an opportunity for us to sponsor "Amazing Kids", said Bess Wills, general manager of Gresham Ford. "Too much media is focused on young people who are in trouble — when in fact we are in communities where kids are thriving and making a positive difference in other people's lives. To honor them is a joy and a blessing."
"It is something special to recognize students who are trying hard and making a difference in our community," said Spencer Brown, manager of Les Schwab Tire Center, Prineville.
"Their efforts to serve are an inspiration to others," said Erinn Sowle, general manager with the Suburban Auto Group. "With a world filled with so much negative news, they are truly a bright light leading us forward in a positive direction. These amazing kids are our future. We need to support them in their journey to discover their passion moving forward."
The Pamplin Media Group's Amazing Kid event is presented by Pacific West Roofing and made possible by local businesses that believe in the value of giving back to their community. Other major sponsors include Coastal Farm and Ranch, EleMar of Oregon, Stonebridge Homes and The Closet Factory.
Sherwood's Amazing Kid, Justyn Price, is sponsored by McCabe Real Estate. Thanks to that support, we can share the good deeds of all our honorees in the hopes that others will be inspired to do the same.
