In a ceremony held in Sherwood Tuesday, Oregon State Police Superintendent Travis Hampton presented awards to the officers, including three Sherwood officers

The awards ceremony was held in the Sherwood Police Department's community room.

All nine officers came to the aid of Cedarberg on the evening of Dec. 25 after he was shot by James Tylka on Gimm Lane, which is off of Bell Road in unincorporated Sherwood. Tylka, who died in the incident, had taken Cederberg's gun when the trooper was on the ground and fled into nearby brush, according to a report from the Washington County District Attorney's Office. Cederberg was shot 12 times and spent 48 days in the hospital recovering.

"Words and awards cannot express the level of appreciation that I have for these officers who saved my life," Cederberg said during the awards ceremony.

Those honored included Officer Anthony Cristofaro, Hillsboro Police Department; Officer Eli Sanders, Tualatin Police Department; Officer Jorge Solache, Tualatin Police Department; Officer Daniel Hernandez, Tualatin Police Department; Officer Nathan James, Newberg Police Department; Officer Heather Fults, Newberg Police Department; Officer Stanley Smith, Sherwood Police Department; Officer Christopher Pierce, Sherwood Police Department; and Officer Joseph Twigg, Sherwood Police Department.
