Musician's new recording will be unvelied during a debut concert at the Sherwood Center for the Arts

Sherwood resident Bernie Sims is releasing his new CD "From A Dream" during a release party set for Saturday, June 24. The event will run from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Sherwood Center for the Arts.

The CD's 10 songs present a richly arranged pop vocal style that features memorable lyrics and crisp production. Bernie Sims

Sims' influences (Kenny Loggins, Boz Scaggs, the Beatles, Billy Joel, Donald Fagen and Stephen Stills) have melded with his life experience into a fresh, new musical personality and a resultant recording that is an "eminently listenable" mix.

"From A Dream" features Sims on all instruments and producing, with renowned Portland recording engineer Doug Durbrow, handling the mixing and mastering. The CD is Sims' second, following "Alter Ego" from 2003.

In addition to performing the entire CD, Sims will add a few songs from "Alter Ego." The event is free, family-friendly and open to the public. Portland musician Mel Kubik (Quarterflash and others) will join Sims as a special guest for several numbers.Bernie Sims' new album is entitled 'From a Dream.'

Meanwhile, Sims will be performing at the Sherwood Farmer's Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both June 3 and July 8.
