The Sherwood boys also get a win over Rex Putnam

SHERWOOD — Another league meet, another win for the Sherwood High School girls track and field team.

And the Lady Bowmen picked up their latest victory in dominating fashion.

The Sherwood girls moved to 3-0 in Northwest Oregon Conference dual meets by scoring a 127-11 win over Rex Putnam in a league meet held April 17 at Sherwood High School.

The Sherwood boys made it a sweep for the Bowmen squads as they posted a 91-53 victory over the Kingsmen.

The Lady Bowmen, in getting their victory, had first-place finishes in 15 of the 17 events.

Sophomore Emily Johansen was a three-time winner for Sherwood at the meet. She sprinted to victory in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.50 seconds and she had a winning mark of 1:05.35 in the 400. Johansen also teamed with junior Corrie Green-Lahart, senior Mikayla Howes and senior Jessica Imbrie to win the 4 x 400 relay in 4:33.22.

Imbrie also picked up a win in the 200 with her time of 27.29.

Also on the track for the Sherwood girls, sophomore Sam Mckibbon won the 800 in 2:41.91, junior Avery Rosenbaum ran to victory in the 3,000 in 12:14.04, sophomore Rebekah Quaglio won the 100 high hurdles in 18.55 and freshman Morgan McMasters triumphed in the 300 low hurdles in 53.29.

In the field events, sophomore Mikala Otto and junior Elyse Cuthbertson each had a pair of victories.

Otto took first place in the long jump with a mark of 15 feet, 4 inches and she had a winning distance of 32-10 1/2 in the triple jump.

Cuthbertson won the shot put with a throw of 36-9 and she took first place in the javelin with a mark of 130-1.

Also in the field events, senior Emily Hamilton had a winning throw of 116-10 in the discus, junior Kai Morgan cleared 4-6 to with the high jump and senior Emily Sackinger had a winning height of 10-0 in the pole vault.

For the Sherwood boys, senior Logan Smith picked up a pair of victories in the throwing events. Smith won the shot put with a throw of 45-10 and he had a winning toss of 119-8 in the discus.

Junior Hunter Pfefferkorn also was a two-time winner. Pfefferkorn ran to victory in the 400 in a time of 51.09 and he teamed with Vernon Johnson, Conner Duppenthaler and Emil Eriksson to win the 4 x 100 relay in 45.21.

Also for the Sherwood boys, senior Chris Roth won the 800 in 2:08.84, junior Olsen Cottle triumphed in the 1,500 in 4:41.97, senior Cody Thompson ran to victory in the 3,000 in 9:37.13, senior Jacob Brooks had a winning toss of 151-6 in the javelin, senior Andrew Hamburger cleared 11-0 to take first place in the pole vault and junior Bailey States had a winning distance of 39-9 1/2 in the triple jump.

With the team victory, the Sherwood boys upped their league record to 2-1.

Some of the Bowmen also competed in the Oregon Relays, which concluded Saturday at Hayward Field in Eugene.

For the Sherwood girls, Hamilton was sixth in both the discus and the hammer throw and Sackinger was seventh in the pole vault.

For the Sherwood boys, senior Zach Milligan was third in the high jump and Pfefferkorn was sixth in the 400.

The Bowmen teams were scheduled to compete in a league dual meet at Wilsonville on Wednesday. Results from that meet weren’t available when The Times went to press.

The Sherwood teams will be back in action on Saturday when they compete in the Aloha Relays at Aloha High School.
