The third/fourth grade boys lacrosse team goes 15-0

SHERWOOD — Perfection.

Not too many teams, in any sport, can reach that achievement.

But the Sherwood Youth Lacrosse boys third/fourth grade team did.

The Sherwood squad finished its 2013 season with a perfect record of SUBMITTED PHOTO - PERFECT TEAM -- The Sherwood boys third/fourth-grade lacrosse team went 15-0 in the 2013 season.

The team scored wins over squads from Clackamas, Tigard, Canby, Riverdale, Lake Oswego, Sunset, West Linn, Oregon City, Westview, Tualatin and other Sherwood teams.

“Our team’s skills developed quickly, as did their sportsmanship,” Sherwood coach Rich Zweig said. “They rarely got called for fouls or penalties. Going undefeated is an amazing feat in the sport of lacrosse.

“The highlight for me was watching them come together as a team. I never heard any of the boys point fingers at each other or blame each other for something. They were a remarkable group of kids.”

Players for the Sherwood team include Jack Schaefer, Jakob Bergman, Matthew Macaulay, Carson Stamback, Gavin Maynard, Tayz Rurak, Byron Freisinger, Clay Peden, Karsen Dowart, Seth Everhart, Max Smith, Sam Lazo, Grant Churilla and Aaron Zweig.
