Sherwood edges Milwaukie to move to 4-1 in NWOC play

MILWAUKIE — The Sherwood High School girls basketball team upped its winning streak to four by edging Milwaukie 35-32 in a Northwest Oregon Conference game played Tuesday at Milwaukie High School.

With the victory, the Lady Bowmen improved to 4-1 in NWOC play (9-5 overall), putting them alone in second place in the conference standings, one game behind first-place Rex Putnam. Milwaukie fell to 3-2 in league games with the PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP: PARKER LEE - ON THE DRIBBLE -- Sherwood sophomore Josie Funk heads up court during the Lady Bowmen's win at Sandy on Friday.

Senior post Jaelyn Funk led Sherwood in the with with 12 points. Senior wing Allison Warren added six points and junior guard Jennah Stobie scored five. Karissa Delaunay led Milwaukie with 10 points.

Prior to the win at Milwaukie, Sherwood posted a 43-35 win at Sandy on Friday.

Stobie led a balanced Lady Bowmen scoring attack in that game with 11 points. Sophomore Josie Funk scored 10 points and Jaelyn Funk had seven. Raquel Pellicer led Sandy with 12 points.

The Lady Bowmen will be back in action Friday when they host Wilsonville in a NWOC game starting at 7:15 p.m. On Tuesday, Sherwood will travel to Rex Putnam for a key conference contest starting at 7:15 p.m.
