Sherwood has three returning seniors to help lead the way this year

SHERWOOD — The Sherwood High School girls golf team is ready to get going in the 2017 season.

"The girls golf team is excited to compete this spring," Sherwood coach Kari Turner said. "The team returns three seniors to lead a great group."

Among those returning seniors, from last year's squad that finished in seventh place in the team standings at the Three Rivers League district tournament, is Kendal Pucik.

"She's calm, a hard worker and is dedicated to the game," Turner said. "She had worked extremely hard in the offseason."

Pucik finished the 2016 season on a strong note, as she shot a round of 92 strokes during the second round of last year's Three Rivers League district tournament.

Senior Katie Klaus also returns.

"She's got a positive attitude and a great short game," Turner said.

Maddie Milner is Sherwood's third returning senior.

"She's calm, loves the game, and is consistent," Turner said.

Newcomer Ally Plusquellec will play on the Lady Bowmen varsity.

"She's very talented, and is looking to get her feet wet," Turner said.

Avery Gladheim, who Turner describes as being "the happiest person on earth," is one of three sophomores looking to battle for some varsity time.

That group also includes Caleigh Hadley.

"She's very powerful, and great off the tee," Turner said.

Chloe Knudson is the third sophomore.

"She has really improved her game this year," Turner said.

Sherwood is hoping that it all adds up to a rewarding season.

"The girls have been working hard in the offseason, and are excited to play this spring," Turner said.

The Lady Bowmen will open their 2017 league schedule on Monday, when they play at Chehalem Glenn in Newberg, starting at 11 a.m.
