Poll shows Oregonians lukewarm about coal exports through the Columbia Gorge

A new poll financed by environmental groups shows more Oregonians are opposed to coal exports shipped through the gorge than supporting the idea.

The poll of 725 Oregon voters found a plurality of voters opposed the idea, with 6 percent more opposing the idea than those who support it. Since there was no majority for either position, that signifies a lot of people remain undecided or have no opinion.

The poll, commissioned by the Friends of the Columbia Gorge and the Power Past Coal Coalition, was conducted by Anzalone Liszt Grove Research on June 11 to 12.

Business groups released earlier polls showing more support for exporting coal than opposing the idea.
