Oregon fifth in nation for clean energy jobs
Oregon ranked fifth in the nation for newly announced clean energy and transportation jobs during the second quarter of the year, according to a new report by Environmental Entrepreneurs.
The business group found more than 38,600 clean energy and transportation jobs were announced nationally, slightly higher than year-earlier figures.
Oregon accounted for 3,067 new jobs announced in the second quarter, the group found.
The survey includes jobs in solar, wind, biogas and geothermal power, energy efficiency, smart grid, public transportation and electric vehicles.
Solar generation projects accounted for more than 10,400 of the new jobs nationally. The increased installations of solar power propelled the U.S. past the 10 gigawatts level, enough to power about 2 million homes.
