Volunteers are invited to 10 different sites along Johnson Creek this Saturday for a watershed-wide restoration work day sponsored by the Johnson Creek Watershed Council.
From Gresham to Portland, volunteers will remove invasive species and plant native trees and shrubs in this urban creek where migrating salmon have started to return.
Projects will last from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 1, followed by a free lunch for volunteers.
To sign up for one of the sites (and reserve your free lunch), log on to jcwc.org/watershedwideregistration/.
Volunteers are especially needed at the Clatsop Butte site, near Southeast Foster Road and 162nd Avenue, where folks will be planting trees alongside people from Friends of Trees. Additional information and site directions can be found at jcwc.org/events/watershed-wide/.
