Sell outdoor gear, save the wild

Calling all adventurers.

If you enjoy hiking, climbing, skiing, kayaking, camping and other outdoor adrenaline rushes but have a lot of old gear sitting around, now's your chance to sell it and protect the natural environment.

The popular auction site eBay is celebrating Earth Month by giving a portion of proceeds from outdoor gear to the Sierra Club to help maintain wild spaces. When uploading images of your gear, you can choose a percentage of the profit that you want to donate.

Now through Saturday, April 13, eBay will match the donations up to $25,000.

The trade and re-use program is designed to facilitate people who like to try their hand at different hobbies.

The Sierra Club is also sponsoring an Earth Month photo contest, "Get Out," which runs through April 22. The grand prize is a trip to the Grand Canyon, including airfare and car rental.
