Want to learn how to grow organic food?
Grow Portland is offering three courses this summer in East Portland to help people learn how to do it. Each course is taught in four, three-hour sessions, at the Menlo Park School Garden, 12900 N.E. Glisan St.
The four sessions, taught by experts, cover crop planning, soil and bed preparation; seeding, translating and irrigation; compost, amendments and pest management; fruits, herbs, seed saving and fall gardening.
Grow Portland is a local nonprofit dedicated to increasing opportunities for urban gardening. Charges for the courses are listed as "pay as you will."
All the courses take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The first course will be offered on Wednesday evenings, on June 7, 14, 21 and 28.
