For months the community has speculated on what kind of business will occupy a brand new building erected next to the Goodwill store at 37201 Highway 26. It has been confirmed that the popular fast food franchise Wendy's will be the tenant, though a move-in date has not yet been announced.
"It's very exciting to see all of our commercial properties get leased out," said David Snider, Economic Development Manager for the city of Sandy. "We're down to single digits now."
Another new kid on the block recently announced will be Joy Teriyaki, an Asian fusion restaurant with 13 other locations in the Portland-metro area. The restaurant will fill one of the two vacancies in Sandy Marketplace off Highway 26, adding more dining opportunities to the west side of town. It is still undetermined when the restaurant will open.
"It's great to see that we have one more property that will no longer be vacant," Schneider added. "The fewer vacant properties we have in town, the more likely we'll have someone interested in building something new."
