'Good Morning Santa' festivities to include compiling Christmas baskets for local families

POST PHOTO: BRITTANY ALLEN - This year the Kiwanis expect to fill 300 food boxes and gift baskets.Buying and wrapping gifts for the entire family can be a hassle, but just imagine you had 300 families to compile presents for. That's what Sandy Kiwanis does for the club's annual Christmas Baskets Program.

At 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, the Kiwanis invite all those so moved by the holiday spirit to join them at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 18090 S.E. Langensand Road, to create Christmas for those less fortunate in the community.

All are welcome to attend the "Good Morning Santa" event and enjoy light refreshments, and stay to pack toy and gift baskets after as they wish.

Those unable to attend can make a monetary gift by sending a check made out to Kiwanis Community Christmas Baskets, P.O. Box 1261, Sandy, OR 97055. Donations help cover costs of meat, fresh foods and canned items purchased by the Kiwanis for the food boxes that accompany the gifts.

Volunteers are also still needed to help deliver gifts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 from St. Michael's.
