Man dead after police chase near Boring
A man is dead after a chase near Boring by Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies in the early hours of Tuesday morning after the man allegedly violated a restraining order.
The woman who had the restraining order contacted law enforcement and deputies responded to her.
"It was reported that he was heavily armed," said Brian Jensen, public information officer for the sheriff's office. "They got her out of there safely."
The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was no longer at the woman's location on Southeast Ten Eyck Road just outside Sandy. Several hours later deputies saw his vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop.
The suspect fled and deputies chased him. The pursuit ended around Southeast 312th near Highway 212 and Southeast Church Road where the man got out of his car.
The man and deputies exchanged gunfire and several police cars were hit. No deputies were injured.
The suspect was found dead behind a barn in the area a short time later. Jensen declined to say how the man died.
Highway 26 near the incident was closed for several hours and Sandy residents were alerted to stay inside their homes as the event unfolded.
Jensen declined to name any of the officers involved in the shooting.
