Sandy Jackson Hewitt offers help with taxes

Tax office will hold an open house Friday and Saturday

It’s that time of year again. Time to gather your receipts, tally up your donations, and do your taxes.

Jackson Hewitt Tax Service recently bought what used to be Sandy Income Tax, an office at 39084 Proctor Blvd. It has a new owner and a new name and is ready to help out those in the area who are ready to file their taxes.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10-11, the Sandy Jackson Hewitt office will hold its grand opening and open house.

Laura Lutz, a consultant at Jackson Hewitt said the open house is an opportunity for folks to come in and say hello, and to ask questions about this year’s tax season.

Mamie Carter, the Jackson Hewitt regional manager for this area, also will be available at the open house. Carter, who started her career at Sandy Income Tax, is excited to be returning to her roots.

Carter said it’s very important to see a tax professional because they can help with tax laws, which tend to change often. No matter what the tax dilemma, Carter says they can help. Jackson Hewitt provides services for personal income taxes, bookkeeping and even corporate taxes.

“The number one topic this year is going to be healthcare,” Carter said. Consultants at the office are available to answer questions and even help customers fill out applications.

Carter also offered the most common signs for when you should see a tax professional: life-changing events.

If you’ve recently gotten married, started a family or bought a new house, Carter says that is the perfect time to pay them a visit.
