The former Gresham GreyWolves skipper will stay in the West Coast League with the Pickles

OUTLOOK PHOTO: DAVID BALL - Justin Barchus will be at the helm for his fourth West Coast League season after being named manager of the Portland Pickles earlier this month. Former Gresham GreyWolves manager Justin Barchus will remain in the West Coast League after being hired to lead the Portland Pickles in the coming summer baseball season.

Barchus holds a 58-102 (.363) record in three previous WCL seasons. He had the GreyWolves in the playoff hunt with a solid second half in 2016 before coming up a few wins short in the final week of the season.

"I enjoy the competition of the West Coast League and feel like I have some unfinished business," Barchus said. "The Pickles have the infrastructure in place to make a run."

The Pickles open the 2017 season with an exhibition game against Northwest Star Academy on May 31 before starting the league season June 1-3 with a home series against the Port Angeles Lefties.

The Pickles will face their sister club in Gresham 11 times over the course of the summer.
