Tualatin bank robber linked to Springfield case

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - The Tualatin Police Department released this surveillance image of the man believed to have robbed Bank of the West in Tualatin on the morning of Sept. 5.A man accused of robing a Tualatin bank last month has struck again. This time in the Eugene area.

According to the FBI, the robber entered a US Bank in Springfield on Tuesday, Oct. 8, holding what appeared to be a long gun wrapped in a blanket. The man reportedly approached a bank teller and demanded cash.

The robbery is similar to one happened Sept. 5 in Tualatin, the FBI said. In that case, the thief walked into Bank of the West, 7925 S.W. Nyberg St. carrying an unidentified object which he indicated was a weapon, then took off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said the description of the robbers were near identical to one another, and said the man may have been wearing the same clothing during both cases.

In both cases the robber was described as a white man between 35 and 50 years old, and weighing about 210 pounds. The man was wearing a green and white plaid jacket, with a gray hood.

Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to call the FBI, or the Tualatin or Springfield police departments.
