Tualatin man faces sex abuse charges
A 95-year-old Tualatin man is facing felony sex abuse and rape charges stemming from alleged sexual contact with an underage girl nearly 18 years ago in Washington County.
Joseph Campos faces charges of first-degree rape, four counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of unlawful sexual penetration. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
According to court documents, the alleged abuse happened on two separate occasions: on Thanksgiving Day in both 1999 and 2000. Campos would have been 77 and 78 at the time of those incidents. The child was younger than 12, a secret indictment filed earlier this month indicates.
A warrant was issued for Campos' arrest this month. He was arrested by Tualatin police on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Campos was booked into the Washington County Jail and later released on bail, according to court and jail records.
Records do not indicate how Campos knew the alleged victim in the case.
The arrest was first reported by KATU-TV in Portland.
