Tigard boys stay in tie for first with win at Forest Grove

HILLSBORO — The Tualatin and Sherwood high school girls soccer team each picked up key victories on Tuesday as stay near the top of their respective conference standings.

Tualatin bounced back from a scoreless tie with McMinnville on Oct. 16 to blast Century for a 9-0 victory in a Pacific Conference match played at Hillsboro Stadium.

With the win, the Timberwolves improved to 4-0-2 in conference play (8-2-3 overall), keeping them in second place in the standings. Tualatin will finish its regular season schedule today (Thursday) when it faces Glencoe in conference game starting at 7 p.m. at the 53rd avenue fields in Hillsboro.

The Sherwood girls bested Liberty 1-0 in a match played Tuesday at Sherwood High School. With the win, the Lady Bowmen moved to 3-1-1 in Northwest Oregon Conference play, putting them in a tie with Parkrose and Putnam for second place in the standings.

Sherwood will play at St. Helens tonight and then host Sandy Tuesday in 7 p.m. conference matches.

The Tigard boys kept a share of first place in the Pacific Conference standings by beating Newberg 3-0 in a match played Tuesday at Tigard High School. The Tigers moved to 4-1-1 in conference play with the win, keeping them tied with McMinnville for the top spot in the standings.

Tigard will finish conference play tonight with a 7 p.m. match at Forest Grove.

The Tualatin boys moved to 1-5 in Pacific Conference play with a 4-2 loss to Century in a match played Tuesday at Tualatin High School. The Wolves will host Glencoe tonight at 7 p.m.

The Sherwood boys were edged 3-1 by Liberty in a NWOC match played Tuesday at Liberty High School. The Bowmen moved to 1-3-1 in conference play with the loss.

Sherwood will host St. Helens at 7 p.m. tonight and then play at Sandy Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
