Wolves open league with two road wins

Tualatin beats Mac, Forest Grove in conference action


The Tualatin HIgh School girls basketball team opened Pacific Conference play with a pair of road contests.

The Timberwolves returned home with a 2-0 conference record.

Tualatin started conference play on Friday with a 59-41 win at McMinnville and followed that up by getting a 46-40 victory at Forest Grove on Tuesday.

The 2-0 mark puts Tualatin, which also improved to 7-3 on the season, in a tie with Tigard for first place in the conference standings.

In Friday’s game at McMinnville, the Timerwolves found themselves facing a 20-18 halftime deficit. But they outscored the Grizzlies 41-21 in the second half to get the 18-point victory. Tualatin made 12 of 21 shots fro the field in the decisive second half.

Senior wing Lindsay Barrow paced the Wolves in the victory with 15 points. Senior post Savannah Heugly added 14 points and senior post Jasmine Miller scored 10.

In Tuesday’s game at Forest Grove, Tualatin jumped out to a 29-18 halftime lead and then held off the Vikings in the second half to get the win.

Senior wing Madi Hall paced Tualatin with 12 points in that game.

Miller and Heugly added 10 points apiece and senior point guard Tessa Bullis scored nine.

The Wolves will be back in action Friday when they host rival Tigard in an early-season conference showdown set to start at 5:45 p.m. at Tualatin High School. On Tuesday, the Wolves will face Newberg in a 6:45 p.m. conference tilt to be played at Tualatin High School.
