Nixt made that official back on Feb. 5, when she signed a national letter of intent to play college soccer at Northern Arizona University, located in Flagstaff, Ariz.

“I am so excited,” Nixt said. “How awesome to be able to do something I’m passionate about in college. Everything I’ve worked so hard for – long hours of training, cold practices and games – really paid off. I’m looking forward to meeting my new teammates and making lifelong friends. In many ways this is not the finish line, but rather an ideal starting line.”

Nixt played the center forward position on Westside’s girls varsity soccer team all four years and served as team captain the past two years During her high school soccer experience she led the league in scoring and received All-League first-team honors each year. This past fall, Nixt helped the Eagles place third in arguably the toughest league in the state. She was also honored as the league’s Co-Player of the Year.

"Adrian is a talented and smart player with exceptional vision,” Westside soccer coach Mike Staropoli said. “Combined with her discipline and determination, she has the very real potential to be a difference maker at Northern Arizona."

Nixt has played soccer all her life and joined club soccer in Lake Oswego as a U11 player. As a result of her involvement in club soccer, she was selected to participate in the Oregon Olympic Development Program for five years. This is an elite traveling soccer team that participates in two out-of-state tournaments each year.

"Adrian is a gifted player who is a joy to watch,” former Westside soccer coach Alan Rich said. “She anticipates plays as they develop, has a great first touch with arguably the best ball handling skills of any player in the league, can shoot hard and accurately with both feet, and has soccer intelligence beyond her years.”
