Tiger teams run well in season opener

Tigard girls pick up six wins in the meet at Oregon City


OREGON CITY — The Tigard High School track and field teams turned in some solid marks when it competed at a season-opening four-school meet held March 19 at Pioneer Memorial Stadium.

The Tigard girls showed some early-season strength, picking up six first-place finishes at the meet.

Senior Megan Franz and Lindsey Rosette each had a hand in two of those wins.

Franz ran to victory in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5 minutes, 8.72 seconds. Rosette triumphed in the 100 high hurdles with a mark of 16.73.

In the 4 x 400 relay, Franz and Rosette teamed with senior Kelly Fox and sophomore Abigail Lewis to pick up a win in a time of 4:22.04.

Sophomore Elise Conroy, just five days after finishing play at the Class 6A girls basketball state tournament, had a winning throw of 37 feet, 4 inches in the shot put.

Also for the Tigard girls, sophomore Rachel Josephson had a winning time of 2:41.18 in the 800 and freshman Victoria Prouty cleared 9-0 to take first place in the pole vault.

For the Tigard boys, senior Martin Ramos III triumphed in the 800 in a time of 2:02.49.

Sophomore Tyler Rosette was second in the 400 in 52.89, senior Devin Roche was second in the 800 at 2:05.01, senior Michael Roberts raced to second place in the 110 high hurdles in 16.68 and senior Jake Price cleared 11-6 to place second in the pole vault.

The Tigard teams will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Glencoe in a Pacific Conference dual meet..
