Tualatin boys take second place at the tournament

NORTH PLAINS — The Tigard High School boys golf team continues to roll through Pacific Conference play.

The Tigers picked up their third straight conference tournament victory by reigning supreme at the tourney held Monday at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.

Tigard took the top spot at Monday's event with a team score of 316 strokes. That put the Tigers 11 shots ahead of second-place Tualatin, which had a score of 327. McMinnville was third with a total of 338.

Senior Corey Floom helped lead the Tigers to the first-place finish, as he claimed tournament medalist honors with a round of 75, which included a 35 on the final nine holes.

Close behind Floom was his Tigard teammate, Jon Holzgang, who carded a 76 to finish in a tie for second place in the individual standings.

Also for the Tigers, Colin McAninich shot an 81, putting him in a tie for sixth place in the individual standings, Damian Vonahelfeld had an 84 and Nick Jones had a round of 86.

For Tualatin, JJ Paulson led the way with a round of 76, putting him in a tie with Holzgang for the No. 2 spot in tourney play.

Also for the Wolves, JJ Carter shot an 81, Jonathan Whittle had a round of 82, CJ Luikart had an 86 and Jackson Ceserani shot an 89.

The next Pacific Conference tournament will be held Monday, starting at 10 a.m., at Tualatin Country Club.
