Sherwood also takes fourth place at Saturday's Liberty Invitational wrestling tourney

SHERWOOD — The Sherwood High School wrestling team remained perfect in Three Rivers League contests.

The Bowmen powered their way to a 66-18 win over Lake Oswego in a league dual match held last Thursday at Sherwood High School. With the win, Sherwood improved to 2-0 in TRL matches, while Lake Oswego fell to 0-2.

The Bowmen had four pins in the victory.

At 113 pounds, Sherwood sophomore Haden Munson pinned Lake Oswego's Henry Hubbell in a time of 3 minutes and 14 seconds.

At 126, Bowmen senior Jack Murphy defeated Henry Fillmore in a time of 5:58. In the 145-pound bout, Sherwood junior Andrew Fujii pinned Mark Mathany in 4:21.

The Bowmen's other fall came at 285, where senior Jayden Cuthbertson defeated Jeremy Linver in 2:34.

Sherwood also got seven forfeit wins. Winning by forfeit for the Bowmen were sophomore Nick Hekker (106 pounds), sophomore Logan Swanson (120), junior Clayton Wengert (132), sophomore Bram Nelson (138), sophomore Ian Glenn (182), senior Rustin Williams (195) and junior Jackson Barton (220).

Following the league win, the Bowmen went on to take fourth place in the team standings at the 19-school Liberty Invitational, held Saturday at Liberty High School. Sherwood had a score of 166 points at the event.

Fujii led the way for the Bowmen at the tourney, taking first place in the 145-pound weight class. Fujii went 5-0 on the day, capping things off with a 9-2 decision win over North Marion's Avidan Sanchez in the 145 title bout.

Also for Sherwood at the tournament, senior Andrew Mabry was fourth at 152, Cuthbertson was fourth at 285, Williams was fifth at 195, Nelson was sixth at 138 and freshman Bryan Cuthbertson was sixth at 220.

The Bowmen will next be in action when they compete at the Northwest Duals, which will be held Dec. 28-29 at the Linn County Expo Center in Albany.
