The Sherwood girls are edged by Tigard in the Three Rivers League swimming dual meet

And the Lady Bowmen claim close to making it a sweep for Sherwood.

Both Bowmen squads turned in strong marks as they faced Tigard in a Three Rivers League dual meet held last Thursday at the Tigard Swim Center.

The Sherwood boys came away with a 96-74 win over the Tigers. With the victory, the Bowmen improved to 1-4 in league meets, while Tigard moved to 0-5.

Sophomore Jacob Folsom helped the Bowmen get the victory, as he was a four-time winner at the meet.

DAN BROOD - Sherwood junior Lizzy Cichoski picked up a win in the 100-yard backstroke.Folsom sprinted to victory in the 50-yard freestyle event in a time of 23.98 seconds. He also won the 100 freestyle in 55.53.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Folsom teamed with senior Eugene Tan, junior Braeden Howard and junior Sam Ettelstein to win in 1:39.02. In the 400 freestyle relay, the Bowmen team of Folsom, Howard, senior Brandon Hughes and senior Danny Bassich had a winning time of 3:39.19.

The Sherwood boys made it a sweep in the relays, as the team of Hughes, Tan, Bassich and Ettelstein triumphed in the 200 medley relay in 1:47.43.

DAN BROOD - Sherwood sophomore Jacob Folsom triumphed in the 100-yard freestyle.Bassich also picked up a win in the 100 butterfly with a mark of 58.92. Howard had a winning time of 5:27.30 in the 500 freestyle. Tan triumphed in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:08.34.

The Sherwood girls were edged 89-81 by Tigard at last week's meet. With the setback, the Lady Bowmen moved to 2-3-1 in league meets, while the Tigers improved to 2-4.

The Sherwood girls found some success in the relays, as the team of junior Lizzy Cichoski, freshman Shelby Slenes, sophomore Hunter Stewart and senior Emma Jacobs won the 200 medley relay in a time of 2:02.13.

DAN BROOD - Sherwood freshman Shelby Slenes swam to victory in the 100-yard breaststroke.Also for the Lady Bowmen, Stewart swam to victory in the 200 freestyle in 2:12.90, junior Emily Pannell won the 200 individual medley in 2:27.43, Cichoski had a winning time of 1:06.01 in the 100 backstroke and Slenes triumphed in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.29.

The Sherwood teams will be back in action today (Thursday), when they face Canby in a league meet starting at 4 p.m. at the Canby Swim Center.
