The Tualatin High School teams also ski well at the Metro League giant slalom event

HOOD — The Tualatin and Tigard high school ski teams were back in action at Timberline for the Metro Ski League's second race of 2018 high school ski racing season, a giant slalom event held on the Pucci Main Run venue on Jan. 21.

The Tigard boys turned in another strong performance, finishing in second place in the team standings with a combined time of 3 minutes, 33.60 seconds, putting the Tigers 6.13 seconds behind Jesuit.

Tyler Olson lead the way for Tigard with a fourth-place finish and combined time of 1:09.36. Ryan Barlow finished sixth with a time of 1:10.51. Nour Rahal-Arabi finished 18th with time of 1:15.65. Luke Wargo also contributed to the combined team time with a first-run 12th-place finish.

The Tigard girls finished in third place with combined team time of 3:46.18, putting them behind just Jesuit and Oregon Episcopal School. Tigard's Sarah Gentry had the highest overall finish for the day for all Tualatin and Tigard racers, anchoring the girls team with a solid third-place finish and combined time of 1:10.72. Also for the Tigers, Emma Wihtol finished 10th with time of 1:17.02. Lucy Yusem contributed remaining team time finishing 14th place with combined time of 1:18.44.

She helped the Tualatin girls claim a sixth-place finish with combined team time of 4:07.47. Caylum Tippett finished 24th with time of 1:26.48 and Megan Jost finished 28th with time of 1:29.22, contributing to the team time.

The Tualatin boys team finished seventh with combined time of 3:48.56, coming within 1.93 seconds of overtaking both Southridge and Beaverton.

Taylor Jordan led the way for Tualatin boys with a solid 11th-place finish and combined time of 1:14.16. Kai Depp and Jeff Jost were close behind finishing in 23rd and 24th place. They both contributed to the team times.

The Jesuit girls finished first overall in the team standings with a combined time of 3:38.21. Samantha Woodring from OES finished in first place, individually, for the girls.\

The Jesuit boys finished first overall. Hayden Mills from Jesuit had the top individual time for the boys.

The Tualatin and Tigard teams are scheduled to be back in action Saturday, for the Metro League's third race of the season.
