Woodburn’s Recreation and Parks Department will be hosting its first-ever Amazing Race competition on July 20.

The race begins at 10 a.m. at the Woodburn Public Library, 280 Garfield St. Much like the popular TV show, “The Amazing Race,” teams will face a variety of physical and mental challenges at several local Woodburn businesses. At each challenge, the top three teams will be awarded prizes (door prizes will be given to teams who don’t finish in the top three at each stop).

Teams will be competing for a grand prize that includes an overnight stay in Seaside.

The cost is $5 per person. Teams can have an unlimited number, but a maximum of four is recommended.

Individuals can register online at, at the Woodburn Aquatic Center (190 Oak St.) or at City Hall (270 Montgomery St.).
