by: OREGON STATE POLICE - One man was seriously injured and a Woodburn woman later cited following a head-on crash Thursday north of Brooks. A Woodburn woman was cited in connection with a serious injury, head-on vehicle crash that occurred Thursday along Highway 99E three miles north of Brooks.

According to police reports, Ebelia Duran Negrete, 49, was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer when she traveled across the center lane and collided head-on with a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, which was driven by Jose Silverio Lopez Llamas, 46, of Salem.

The accident occured at about 2:55 p.m. and was witnessed by an Oregon State Police trooper, who started emergency medical care after requesting fire and medical response.

In the accident, Lopez Llamas suffered serious injuries and was transported by LifeFlight to a Oregon Health & Science University.

Duran Negrete suffered minor injuries in the crash. She was later cited for not having an operator’s license and failure to maintain a lane of travel.
