Donald residents asked to reduce water usage

Share
Filter replacement will hamper water system for about three days starting next week

The city of Donald has issued an alert to its residents that from Feb. 19 to Feb. 25, volunteer restrictive use of water is encouraged.

The Donald water system will be shut down for a period of three days to replace the sand in the filters, according to a flier sent out by City Manager Heidi Bell.

This will improve the quality of water by enhancing the taste and color, as well as minimizing odor issues. It is important that we restrict water use before the installation to build water up in the reservoirs and then afterwards to replenish the supply, Bell's message continued.

The city also offered ways to reduce water consumption during this time:

• Take shorter showers;

• No outdoor water usage (like washing your car);

• Turn the water off while brushing your teeth;

• Run only full dishwasher/laundry loads.

For questions or concerns, citizens are asked to call Donald City Hall at 503-678-5543.

For water and/or sewer emergencies call the pager at 503-301-6479.
