City of Gervais teams with the Woodburn Fire District to offer safety education, free helmets and complimentary tune-ups

PHIL HAWKINS - Woodburn firefighters helped fit helmets on children at the Gervais Bicycle Rodeo.PHIL HAWKINS - Woodburn firefighters guided kids through a bicycle safety course, teaching the meaning of different road signs and how to safely negotiate railroad crossings.Volunteers within the city of Gervais invited members of the community to come out to Gervais Elementary School on Wednesday and take part in a bicycle rodeo. Children were treated to a complimentary lunch at the school, along with free art and school supplies while they ate. Outside members of the Woodburn Fire District helped guide the children through a bicycle obstacle course that helped identify road signs and safety procedures while on a bicycle. Participants were provided with free helmets and a customary tune-up for the bicycles following completion.

PHIL HAWKINS - After completing the bicycle safety course, participants were treated to a free bicycle tune up.
