Woodburn man arrested for alleged threats on Chemeketa campus in Brooks
Police have arrested a Woodburn man after an employee at Chemeketa Community College's Brooks campus said he threatened her.
Around 10 a.m. Thursday, the employee told police that a man made verbal threats to harm her. At the time about 40 deputy sheriffs with the Marion County Sheriff's Office were on campus training and she reported the activity directly to them.
The campus and surrounding area was asked to lock down while deputies searched the area.
At 10:49 a.m., Jose Lara-Anaya, 39, of Woodburn was located near the campus and arrested. He was charged with disorderly conduct and menacing.
According to a press release from MCSO, Lara-Anaya is a transient who was intoxicated and suffering from what appeared to be mental health issues.
Lara-Anaya has being taken to the Marion County Jail where he will be lodged and given a mental health evaluation.
