Three school board members from North Marion School District and one from Woodburn School District were recognized at a recent Oregon School Boards Association convention.
North Marion's Bill Graupp was among 12 locally elected board members recognized with a platinum award for completing coursework through OSBA's Leadership Institute.
Heidi Torian, also on the North Marion board, and Gustavo Gutierrez-Gomez, Woodburn School Board member, were among 17 board members presented with gold awards.
Scott Mills, also a member of the North Marion School Board, received a silver award.
The awards, presented Nov. 11 at OSBA's 71st annual convention in Portland, recognize board members for significant levels of achievement in leadership and development.
There are four levels: bronze, silver, gold and platinum.
"This award recognizes those local school board members whose volunteer service and dedication help create a better future for Oregon's children," said OSBA Executive Director Jim Green in a press release.
OSBA is a member services agency for more than 200 locally elected boards serving school districts, education service districts and community colleges. It also provides services to charter schools and their boards.
