Woodburn School District chairwoman says she's encouraged by feedback at forum

Monday, March 19, the Woodburn School District and the Woodburn Police Department hosted a school safety forum for the community. Following recent national tragedies and local copycat threats, administrators wanted to review safety protocols that are currently in place in our schools, and, most importantly, listen to feedback from parents about what the district and police department can do to improve communication during such events.

We want to thank each parent, student and community member who attended the forum. We all have the same goal of keeping students and staff safe. It's not an easy topic to tackle, sometimes scary and emotional, but it was heartening to have people come together to share their thoughts and ideas for our review and consideration.

We recognize that parents face unique challenges raising children in today's world. It was comforting to be reminded that we live in a community that cares about one another while facing tough challenges at school.

Thank you to all who attended, listened and provided feedback. Thank you to our community for uniting to provide a safe environment for the students of Woodburn. We will report back to share information in the next few weeks.
