Concentio and Chamber Choir of Pittsburgh School for the Choral Arts will bring their spring concert, “Voices of Eternity,” to Zion Mennonite Church, 6124 S. Whiskey Hill Road in Hubbard, at 7 p.m. June 17. The concert is open to the public, with a donation suggested at the door.

The concert will feature texts that have endured for decades, centuries, and millennia, including Psalms, spirituals, the prayer of St. Francis, “The Diary of Anne Frank” and more. This inspirational program focuses on beauty, joy and hope in the midst of hardship and that someday, “everything will change for the better, that cruelty will end, and peace will return once more” (Anne Frank).

Featured works will include Srul Irving Glick’s “Psalm Trilogy,” and Linda Tutas Haugen’s “Anne Frank: A Living Voice” featuring the 16-voice chamber choir. PSCA’s Concentio and Chamber Choir will perform on this concert, under the direction of Kathryn Barnard, artistic and general director of PSCA.

The Pittsburgh School for the Choral Arts was established as the Oakland Girls Choir in 2005 to provide an opportunity for girls of all ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds to experience the joy of singing in community through a comprehensive choral training program. Singers come to the choir from cities and townships throughout the greater Pittsburgh region. Currently, the choral school is made up of four ensembles and one preparation course for girls, designed to educate female choristers in musical literacy, healthy vocal production, choral fundamentals, sight singing and foreign languages.

The school also has added a women’s choir and is adding a boys’ choir this fall, for grades 1-5.

The Pittsburgh School for the Choral Arts believes in the power of every voice and strives to celebrate the unique gift of each person.

Its choirs and programs welcome people of all ages, cultures, socioeconomic backgrounds and those with special needs to create a diverse community of mutual respect and encouragement. Learn more at
