French Prairie MS Kiwanis Terrific Kids for November
Laila Hernandez, 11, daughter of Mariela Zavala Hernandez and Everardo Hernandez and sister to Angel, is in the sixth grade.
Her favorite classes are art and math.
Laila is not sure about her future goals, but she is thinking about going to college to explore her options.
Mrs. Beam said, "Laila is a great student. She meets classroom and school expectations. She is kind and polite to others. She is a conscientious worker and gets her high quality work turned in on time. Laila is a joy to have in class."
Mia Avila, 12, daughter of Marisol and Jose Avila and sister to Anahi, is in the sixth grade.
She enjoys soccer and track. Her favorite class is math. She hopes to take algebra/advanced math during middle school.
She wants to one day attend Western Oregon University to study teaching. She also wants to volunteer at her grandma's daycare.
Mrs. Rodriguez said, "Mia is a joy to have in class. She is on time and focused on succeeding in her classes. She works well with others and has exciting aspirations."
Lindsey Perez Reyes
Lindsey Perez Reyes, 13, daughter of Raul Perez and Maria Elena Reyes and sister to Julymar, is in the eighth grade.
Her favorite activity is watching YouTube videos when she comes home from school. At school, she said she is passionate about writing: "I love when my language arts teacher asks us to answer to the writing prompt because I can express myself through words," she wrote. Her other favorite class is math, but she said she enjoys all her classes.
"Something that I aspire to do after graduating from high school is to start planning what college I want to go to," Lindsey said about her future goals. "I would also like to earn money working in a decent job in order to be able to afford paying the college I want to go to."
Mrs. Rodriguez said, "Lindsey is an exceptional student. She never fails to give a 100 percent effort, and the quality of her work reflects that. In addition, her positive, polite and mature personality makes Lindsey a perfect role model for her classmates."
