by: CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - Test drives of the new all-electric BMW i3 will be offered inside the Oregon Convention Center during the 2014 Portland International Auto Show.The best way to find out if a vehicle is right for you and your family is to drive it. Several manufacturers are once again offering free Ride and Drives with multiple vehicles so you can experience a vehicle the way it is meant to be experienced — behind the wheel.

Buick, Chevy and GMC will be combining forces again this year to conduct a General Motors multi-brand Ride and Drive. It will include a new Buick, the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid, and the new Duramax Diesel pickup.

Chrysler's entree is the new Cherokee. Rides will be located in the front of the Convention Center, south of the MLK Entrance.

KIA is adding a new twist to their event with a green screen activity at their location by the Northeast Holladay Street show entrance. KIA will highlight the full model lineup including the new Cadenza, newly updated Optima, and new K900.

Scion will have a multi-dimensional closed course Ride and Drive at the Plaza across the street from the Oregon Convention Center. It will offer a street course for the FRS sports car and other models, and a special course for the i/Q microcar to showcase it agility, small turning radius and parallel parking ability.

The Subaru event will start at their main exhibit on the main floor near the Northeast First Street exit. It will offer a full line up of Subaru models, including the redesigned 2014 Subaru Outback.

Toyota's Ride and Drive will take place at the Holladay Street show entrance. It will have a full line up of models, including the Prius and the redesigned Camry, which features new styling and increased luxury.

And for the first time, BMW will offer an indoor test drive of their new all-electric i3. It will take place in Hall A.
