Auto News: Porsche Club grants and PIR Labor Day weekend
Porsche club awards grants
The Oregon Region Porsche Club of America has awarded $1,000 each to Reynolds High School and Kelso High School to increase their automotive teaching equipment.
The club knows automotive equipment is expensive and awards grants every year to help purchase it. Five schools in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington applied this year.
Reynolds requested funds for a power supply to create more workstations and purchase a new battery for its SnapOn Vantage Pro labscope. Kelso will use their grant to purchase an automotive electrical trainer which the teacher can use to introduce up to 20 different fault codes for the students to diagnose for repairs.
PIR holds big Labor Day Weekend events
One of the largest annual weekend events is set for Portland International Raceway from Friday, Sept. 1 to Sunday, Sept. 3.
Historic racecars from the Society of Vintage Racing Enthusiasts (SOVREN) will be testing and competing in the 2017 Columbia River Classic on all three days. New this year is the CrossFlow Cup for Formula Fords. Plus, on Saturday, the 41st Annual All British Field Meet will attract the biggest gathering of British cars on the West Coast for the annual Jaguar Clubs of North American-sanctioned Concours d'Elegance and slalom. This year's theme is Saluting the Best of Britian.
