Eleven locals honored on 6A all-state softball
Lowe, Brenner, Nelson and Marchione are all named to the first team
The Metro League's best softball players were, once again, among the state's best as the Class 6A all-state teams were announced in June.
Beaverton-area players named to the Class 6A all-state first team were: Jesuit senior catcher Shikara Lowe; Jesuit sophomore third baseman Elizabeth Brenner; Southridge senior shortstop Taylor Marchione; and Jesuit junior outfielder Samantha Nelson.
Named to the second team were: Sunset freshman pitcher Jessie Moore; Sunset junior outfielder Kristina Trindle; and Westview sophomore outfielder Amanda Evola.
On the third team were: Jesuit senior first baseman Lauren Watson; and Sunset junior designated hitter/utility Julia Johnson.
And on the 2009 Honorable Mention team were: Westview junior third baseman Ashley Garcia; and Westview senior shortstop Jade Kealiinohomoku.
North Medford senior pitcher Taylor Schmidt was named Player of the Year, McMinnville senior Anna Bertrand was tabbed Pitcher of the Year, and North Medford's Mike Mayben was Coach of the Year.
